By Stephen York, Middle School Visual Arts Teacher at ISZL
Ptolemy Elrington, a sculptor from the UK visited ISZL earlier in 2017. His work is embedded in the re-cycling/ up-cycling movement and he works with found as well as donated items.
Ptolemy worked with our High School students on wearable art and sculptural work, introducing his work and offering advice on ways to make connections and types of materials. He worked with Middle Schoolers on creating a wonderful Eagle, the ISZL mascot, now hanging proudly in our Gallery. Ptolemy also had a wonderful day with the Primary School making amazing animal and organic sculptures with the younger students using collected and donated re-cycled materials. It was a fabulous week, and was enjoyed by all, especially Ptolemy who was hugely complimentary about our wonderfully respectful and creative students.
