Our International Camp brings young people aged 12-17 together from all over the world to share their languages and cultures. With options to learn English, French, Spanish, Italian and German alongside young native speakers of these languages, our language learning experience is rich, authentic and meaningful. We offer one week or two week programmes and our project-based approach to learning ensures lessons are engaging and fun.
Based in Helensburgh near the infamous Loch Lomond, we welcome our campers to outstanding accommodation in the heart of Scotland’s central Highlands.
Our small language classes, of no more than 6 campers, are delivered by qualified and experienced native teachers each morning. Using our original workbooks, each lesson has a different grammar or vocabulary topic. Campers then put their learning into practice through a digital media project. Using film-making, animation, journalism, podcasting and even cookery, campers use their newly learned language in a realistic context and work on these projects alongside native speakers of the language they are studying. For example, young German speakers learning English work on the project with young English-speakers learning German. Campers also receive a DVD showcasing all the media they created so their films, songs and animations in their studied foreign language can be shared after the camp too.
Afternoons are filled with a variety of adventure and cultural activities. So whether campers are conquering gravity on the climbing wall, playing capture the flag or competing on giant inflatables, they are having a great time and learning lots without even realising it.
There are also two excursions during each week at camp so that all campers can experience some of the stunning places, cities and nature that Scotland has to offer.
Evenings are filled with ample opportunities to break eggs over the heads of language mentors and take part in quizzes, escape rooms and even Master Chef. The fun never stops.
LEARNING WITH NATIVES:
Learning alongside young native speakers allows our campers to continue learning, chatting with their new-found friends long after camp ends. Campers often visit their international friends after summer camp too and return the next year to spend time with them again! This experience gives all learners a truly authentic language-learning experience.

Reviews from students or parents:
“My son came home from camp absolutely ecstatic about his experiences! James talks about his visit to Edinburgh, his walk up Ben Lomond, and his friends from abroad – with whom he still keeps in touch. There is a subtle change in him, a maturing has happened. In just one week at Articulate, he has been stretched and gently pushed outside his comfort zone and his life was made richer from this international experience. He has grown and grown up and he has memories he will retell for years to come. I would absolutely recommend Articulate Language Camps to other parents.”

“It was the first time Finlay had been away from us so I was a little apprehensive. However, it is safe to say it was a great success. Articulate Language Camps gave the young people a fantastic experience and my daughter has a new found confidence in herself. She is very keen to learn more French and she is already talking about the next time.”
— Louise, Camper Parent
“The mentors were friendly, cheerful and organised. I loved capture the flag, crate building, the water fight and the team building activities. I also really enjoyed the language classes and seeing everything we had created at the end of the camp. I will definitely come back next year and I will recommend camp to all my friends.”
— Lily, Camper
“Camp was so much better than I thought. It wasn‘t at all what I expected as the learning wasn’t like at school! I have to say that most of the time, I don’t even realise I was learning Spanish! The food was also great – better than my mum’s!”
— Stuart, Camper
“I learned a lot more French this week. It’s amazing how much you can learn in just a week! I loved learning through making videos and the trailers that we made. I really liked going on the excursions too and talking with the foreign campers.”
